big-heart.jpgDear DateSpacers:

Reeling from another week of monumental financial snafus? Fed up with the new lows in political pettiness and chicanery? Praying for Rihanna to hang up the damn microphone (please, do stop the music)? Don’t fret. Fortunately, there’s something you can turn to in trying times, when nothing else seems to take the pain away. Go ahead, let go. Turn it over to DateSpaces.com. Doesn’t that feel better? That’s right, we’re all you’ll ever need.

Check out what’s shakin’ this week at DateSpaces.com and we’ll have you feeling better than Rush Limbaugh at a Vicodin and pudding party:

1. DateSpace of the Week

User bex emailed us the following review of Typhoon Lounge (thanks!). Here’s your chance to look culturally literate. Discuss Noh theater and Don Quixote over Japanese tapas: “The media are diverse, yes, but I submit that the common theme here, if I may be so bold, is transience…” Gold.

Typhoon Lounge on St. Marks Place between 2nd and 1st Avenues is a perfect place for a date. It is a Japanese restaurant, that not only serves fresh, delicious sushi (at very reasonable prices) but is known for its Japanese “tapas”. It is a good place to go on a date with a new person so you can share and get to know them. It could be me, but I am an adventurous eater and love that my boyfriend is like me in that sense. There are some weird dishes like pickled octopus (yes it’s raw), fried calamari (breaded with panko bread crumbs and served with a sweet chili sauce). Typhoon Lounge also serves sushi/sashimi bowls, which includes your choice of a generous amount of fish served on a bed of sweet rice along with choice of a salad or miso soup for about $7. The setting is dim and intimate. The place was packed with huge groups of Japanese people, which to me was a good sign, but you may want to arrive early because they don’t take reservations and can get crowded with long waits.

2. This Week at The Daily Dater

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from NBC’s The Office, it’s that people named Kevin are uncouth, yet strangely likeable. If there’s another thing, it’s that office romances can be a hell of a ride. This week at The Daily Dater we offer some guidelines on how to keep the tumult to a minimum. Hold on tight.
