Dear DateSpacers:
It’s hard to stay fresh after 19 installments of a serial e-newsletter. Mmmm… fresh cereal.
Speaking of cereal, ever notice how much you can tell about what kind of mate a person would make based on his or her favorite boxed breakfast food? For instance, it has been widely observed that those who prefer to start their day with Kellogg’s Nut & Honey Crunch are often poor communicators, making it difficult to cultivate emotional intimacy.
We asked DateSpaces.com’s resident psychobranalyst Dr. Katja E. Tennmeipopz to shed some light on the personalities associated with some of our favorite cereals.
Trix (The Withholder (a/k/a The Tease)): Playful, controlling. Will build the pursuer or lover up, only to withhold love and affection at the last minute–often leading to codependency. Known to resort to humiliation and condescension, describing their lovers as “silly” at their most vulnerable moments.
Cap’n Crunch (The Masochist): Appreciates the sweet in life, but thrives on pain. “Really, anyone who cuts the roof of their mouth on their cereal, then keeps going back for more, falls into this category,” says Tennmeipopz.
Apple Jacks (The Peter Pan): Defiant, sometimes infantile. Does not respond well to the paternalistic. Marked by a refusal to justify his or her actions.
Rice Krispies (The Experimenter (a/k/a The Freak)): sensual, explorative. Seeks stimulation of all senses. May take on multiple partners. “For them, the ’snap’ is not enough,” says Tennmeipopz. “They need the ‘crackle’ and the ‘pop’, too.
Total (The Spartan): Responsible, uptight. Can be seen as overly pragmatic or even cold, sometimes valuing utilitarian concerns (such as Riboflavin intake) over matters of the heart.
1. DateSpace of the Week
TJ recommends Iron Chef Mario Batali’s OTTO Enoteca and Pizzeria at One Fifth Avenue for, “a culinary experience.” We all know what an enoteca is, but for those of you who don’t parla l’italiano, a “pizzeria” is a place where pizzas are made and served (in much the same way that a cafeteria is a place where one makes and sells cafetas). TJ highly recommends the “Quattro Formaggi” (Four Cheese) Pizza.
Want more Italian lessons? Well, we’re still working on a instructional video to teach our users basic Italian, but this one should help should you opt for a French restaurant instead.
