A fellow DateSpacer recommended Planet Sushi to us after she read our review of Amber, it’s Upper West Side neighbor. So we decided to check it out. On the quality of food (never a dealbreaker when determining a great Datespace, but certainly of importance), it’s right up there with Amber. Large, fresh portions of fish. Creative presentation and variety too.
Well, the election is (finally) over, and if–like Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack (and the Black Eyed Peas)–the last few months have had you wondering, “Where is the love?” then look no further. Love is back, Baby.
If you’re not convinced, we submit to you the conciliatory and, dare we say, loving speeches from Senators McCain and Obama from Tuesday night. Like we said: love is back.
While Cirque du Soleil’s Wintuk sounds like a rule in football, it’s actually a really cool winter-themed show by that amazing circus/theater troupe at Madison Square Garden.

Our advice for you: just because the weather’s getting colder doesn’t mean there’s less to do outside your homes. So get out there and “Fall back” to these 10 ideas:
It’s never too early to think about purchasing holiday gifts for your loved one. Actually, now’s the time to start thinking about what they want, instead of doing that whole “OhmyGodwhatdoesmysignificantotherwantforchristmas
/hanukkah/etc!??!?”

Dear Letty,
I met a great woman at a neighborhood beautification meeting and I finally got up the nerve to ask her out. Taking the current state of the economy into consideration – is it acceptable to use a coupon on a date?
Good Neighbor (26 y/o f)
Dear GN,
Current state of the economy notwithstanding, there is an unwritten no-coupon rule that is implied in every date scenario; especially a first date. Whether it is girl/boy, girl/girl, or boy/boy we all want our first date to have some element of romance. So, when that person, who still puts the butterflies in your stomach, whips out a coupon when paying for her or his share of the dinner, let’s just say, the butterflies die. Coupons for percentages off on meals are for singles out in a city where they can’t eat at home, or for a couple who are saving for their first home, or for families who have more mouths to feed.

Shopping — as a first date? Yeah, we know it sounds crazy, but now that it’s November — and that means it’s time to start thinking about holiday gifts — you may as well use the season to your advantage. After all, few locales present a more collaborative experience with lower pressure than department stores. And what makes Century 21 so wonderful is that a) the goods are high quality (not Saks high quality, but high quality), b) the selection is seemingly endless and c) the prices will not make a significant dent in your wallet. So after the day is over, you’ll look like a stud because a) you were willing to go shopping in the first place (a major plus), b) you presumably had much to talk about since you asked for your date’s opinion constantly, right, right? and c) you appear super-generous (which you are, of course!).
It’s Halloween, and we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that just because you’re all grown up now doesn’t mean you can’t still be scared. Don’t believe us? Try renting the 1996 horror movie The Craft–it’s terrifying how bad a movie can be.
If that doesn’t work, consider for a second that in less than a week you may very well hear the phrase “Vice President Palin.”
