Be the first to comment on Cafe Fiorello!
Make sure you and your date sit at the "bar." It's in quotes because it's not just any old bar. In addition to the usual alcohol fare, this bar is lined with fresh seafood, hot and cold antipasto, and vegetables grilled-to-perfection. (Also, the bar staff is like twenty times nicer than the wait staff, but don't tell the wait staff we told you that).
Portions are big at Cafe Fiorello, not family style big, but certainly big enough for two people. Sharing food is almost always a good call when you're out on a date, because since you'll be sharing the food, you're implicitly sharing your germs, which, ironically, is considered a sign of intimacy. It sounds crazy, we know, but just trust us on this one. Be forewarned, it's not the cheapest place to eat near Lincoln Center, yet it's lively-atmosphere, Tuscan-colored walls, and upper-crust "New Yawk" feel make it one of the most fun places to dine out before going to the opera. Plus, if you can afford a night out at the opera, you have no excuse to be a cheap dinner date!
