I agree, this is a great date location. Furthermore, Arthur Avenue is close by, which is the little Italy of the Bronx, with actual Italian people and not tourist trap restaurants and asians running around selling souvenirs. I recommend Mario's, but most of the restaurants are great. FYI, Mario's, like many others in the area, are a little old school mafia style and take cash only, so bring the greenbacks...

The Bronx Zoo is the perfect date once you've really started dating someone. It would be a little awkard to propose this locale early on in a relationship, but certainly once you're established, the Bronx Zoo (consistently ranked as one of the greatest zoos in the world) is a welcome departure from your typical saturday afternoon "couple" activities (sleeping in, watching tv, errands, etc.). And then afterwards, go out for a nice saturday night dinner but be sure to wash that zoo smell off you first!
